What's New or Changed for 4.0

Important

If you are using Media Gateway in your HMP environment, you must apply a patch to your HMP, upgrade your HMGs to 4.0.1, and then upgrade your HMP to 4.0. This is due to the cryptographic module dependencies in the new operating system for both products. Please contact Haivision Support for this SHA-512 pairing patch. If you do not follow these steps, you will need to re-pair your Gateways to your HMP after they are upgraded to 4.0.1 and 4.0 respectively.

The Haivision Media Platform 4.0 release adds the following new features:

EnhancementAffected Topics

Added ability to customize the display of captions in the browser, including font type and color, background color and transparency, text size, and caption positioning. Administrators may change the default behavior for all users, while individual users can override the administrator's settings in their browser.

Note

This feature does not apply to the low-latency player as captions are not yet supported. Additionally, this feature does not affect captions displayed on connected set-top boxes.

Removed Preview Mode for the Low-latency Player, Live Review, and Layouts features.

Removed Peer-to-peer video delivery feature.
Added ability to always show the player controls when using an embedded player link.
Corrected calculation of number of concurrent recordings. The license limit for recordings was incorrectly checked against sessions, instead of against sources.N/A
Upgraded operating system (OS) to Oracle Enterprise Linux 9.N/A
Due to the upgrade to the HMP OS, the hash function used for pairing with HMG has changed from SHA-1 to SHA-512. Therefore, ensure the major versions of both your HMP and Gateways are the same. For instance, if your HMP is at version 4.0+, your Media Gateways must also be at version 4.0.1+.

Due to the upgrade to the HMP OS, changed the implementation for U.S. Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) Publication 140-2 and high-security (STIG) environments. (The STIG enable button was removed.) Most of the policies included in these standards are enabled by default. Please contact your Haivision Support representative to enable full FIPS and/or STIG support in your 4.0+ installation.

Due to the upgrade to the HMP OS and OpenSSL 3, any PKCS#12-formatted certificates generated with an older OpenSSL version must be converted before they can be added to HMP 4.0+.

Note

These features vary by product edition and license.
