Understanding the default video routes within a group
When no booking is set within a group, some default video routes apply for Live and Forward operations.
Inputs dedicated to Live
For each receiver within a group, some inputs are dedicated to Live operations and other inputs are dedicated to Forward operations.
By default, for each receiver half inputs are dedicated to Live operations while the other inputs are dedicated to Forward operations. Beside here is an example of a 4 inputs receiver.
Priorities on Receivers
Priorities on receivers can be defined within a group (see chapter Modifying Receiver Priority). The default video routes will then respect priorities that have been set.
Live Priorities
When starting a Live, the first dedicated input on the highest priority receiver is used, if available. If not, the next input is used. When all dedicated inputs are used on the priority receiver, the Live is directed towards the dedicated inputs of the next priority receiver.
Forward Priorities
Unlike the inputs dedicated to Live operations, the first input dedicated to Forward is the last receiver's input (see diagram below).
When starting a Forward, the first dedicated input on the highest priority receiver is used, if available. If not, the next input is used. When all dedicated inputs are used on the priority receiver, the forwarded file is directed towards the dedicated inputs of the next priority receiver.
Adjusting the Ratio for Forward and Live Operations
You can easily adjust the number of inputs dedicated to Forward operations and the number of inputs dedicated to Live.
This parameter can be adjusted in the settings of each receiver:
- In the menu bar, click on Settings.
- In the Receivers section, click the receiver for which you want to modify settings.
- Click the Inputs tab.
- Slide the cursor to define the number of inputs dedicated to Live operation, and the number of Inputs used for Forward operation.
In the Usage column, all inputs using SST protocol take instantly Live or Forward status, according to the position of the cursor.
