Configuring Secure Reliable Transport (SRT)
Haivision's Secure Reliable Transport (SRT) streaming protocol is designed to provide reliable and secure end-to-end transport between two SRT-enabled devices (such as Makito X Series encoders and decoders) over a link which traverses the public Internet. For more information, see Secure Reliable Transport (SRT).
To create an SRT connection:
- Make sure the encoder and decoder are accessible from the public Internet by appropriate configuration of any firewalls.
- Set up an SRT stream on the encoder by following the steps in Setting Up Streaming Outputs, and Configuring Secure Reliable Transport (SRT) (in the Makito X4 Encoder User's Guide).
- In the decoder, go to the Streams section and add a new stream. See Configuring Streams.
- Select TS over SRT for the Protocol, and set the Mode.
- Configure the SRT Settings. For more details, see SRT Stream Settings.
- When applicable, turn on the SRT Access Control toggle and fill in the necessary parameters. See Configuring SRT Access Control.
- If you are using encryption, turn the Encrypted toggle on and enter the passphrase. This passphrase must match the corresponding passphrase entered in the encoder.
- Once you have configured the SRT Settings, click Apply Changes.
- Once you establish the SRT stream, check the statistics and make adjustments to fine-tune the stream. In the Streams section, click the More Options icon on the far right and select Statistics to see how the SRT stream is performing.
