Makito FX DisplayPort Encoder Overview
The Makito FX DisplayPort Encoder video encoder is a ruggedized appliance designed for demanding, mission-critical live video applications. It can ingest a 2160p50/60 4K UHD (Ultra High Definition) video source as well as up to 4 stereo pairs of digital audio. The Makito FX DP Encoder is available as a compact standalone appliance.
This unit includes a DisplayPort Input and DisplayPort Loop Output. For more on the Makito FX DP interfaces, see Connect to the Network and Audio/Video Sources.
Makito FX DisplayPort Encoder features include the following:
4K Broadcast Quality Video – The Makito FX Encoder can encode live video in HDor 4K UHD for streaming over IP networks in a broad range of applications. It can encode with 8- or 10-bit pixel depth to deliver excellent picture quality, even at low bitrates. For workflows where color precision is needed, it offers 4:2:2 chroma subsampling to maintain color fidelity and prevent artifacts.
Note
When using HDMI or DisplayPort connections, the MFX can also encode DCI 4K (4096X2160p30) video.
High Dynamic Range – In addition to Standard Dynamic Range (SDR), 10-bit pixel depths, and Wide Color Gamut support (WCG), the Makito FX can also encode live content for HDR workflows using HLG or PQ (ST 2084) transfer functions.
Ultra Low Latency Streaming – Up to two encoding cores can securely deliver simultaneous low latency multi-bitrate streams over challenging networks, including the public internet.
Dual Network Interfaces – Use dual NICs to keep management separate from the video network, and create path-redundant streams to improve reliability while live-streaming.
Secure Content Encryption and Reliable Streaming – The Makito FX Encoder can encrypt video streams with up to 256-bit AES key lengths using the SRT protocol. It also adapts to fluctuating network bandwidth in real-time, limiting packet loss and ensuring uninterrupted high-quality video.
Note
The Makito FX DisplayPort Encoder does not support Multi-Stream Transport (MST).
