Audio Encoder Settings

The following table lists the Audio Encoder controls and settings:

Input
Audio SettingDefaultDescription/Values
Input
Select the Audio Input for the encoder.
SDIAnalog
  • Analog
  • SDI1 (1-2). . (15-16)
  • SDI2 (1-2). . (15-16)

Note

The SDI2 audio inputs are only available on dual-channel systems.

Tip

For Analog audio, on dual input SDI encoders, you may need to specify the video input from which to derive the audio encoder's STC source (either Auto, BNC1, or BNC2). This is done using the CLI. For details, see “stcif” in audenc.

DVIAnalog
  • Analog
  • DVI (1-2)
Basic Parameters
Audio SettingDefaultDescription/Values
Channel ModeStereo

Select the number and type of audio channels to encode:

  • Stereo
  • Mono-Left
  • Mono-Right
Bitrate128 kbps

Select the Audio Bitrate for the encoder:

  • Mono: 56 to 160 kbps
  • Stereo: 80 to 320 kbps
Sample Rate (kHz)48 kHzThe number of audio samples per second taken from the incoming signal. 48 kHz only.
AAC-LC AlgorithmMPEG-2 ADTS

The audio compression algorithm:

  • MPEG-2 ADTS - Encodes audio using the ISO/IEC 13818-7 MPEG-2 AAC-LC algorithm with an ADTS header. (Default)
  • MPEG-4 LOAS/LATM - Encodes audio using the ISO/IEC 14496-3 MPEG-4 AACLC algorithm with a LOAS/LATM header.
0 dBFS Audio Level (dBu)+6 dBu

(Analog Input only) Adjusts the maximum analog Audio Input signal level (0 dBfs) from +5dBU up to +20dBU.

Note

This is useful in applications such as broadcast and streaming to allow higher audio headroom.

Tip

This parameter specifies the audio level at which full scale is achieved.

5 = Full scale in the coded audio is achieved when a 5 dBu input signal is input at the audio input.
20 = Full scale in the coded audio is achieved when a 20 dBu input signal is input at the audio input.

This means that if the same audio input signal is sent to a Makito, it will sound louder at the decoder when the input signal level is set to 5 than if the level is set to 20.

Languagen/aTo specify the language of the input, start typing letters and select the language from the list.

Mute

n/aClick Mute to encode silence instead of the selected audio input. For example, this may be used when you do not wish to encode the audio but the decoder being used does not support decoding of video only streams.

Stop
