AVC and HEVC Encoding
The Makito X4 supports concurrent AVC/H.264 and HEVC/H.265 video encoding.
High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC), also known as H.265 and MPEG-H Part 2, is a video compression standard. HEVC is designed to improve coding efficiency compared to its precedent, Advanced Video Coding (AVC), also known as H.264 or MPEG-4 Part 10.
The Makito X4 supports up to eight encoding cores per input up to UHD resolutions. Multiple codecs with different parameters may be functional all at the same time. The supported bit depth of each HEVC or H.264 encoding core is 8 or 10 bits. The encoder color space supports 4:2:0 and 4:2:2 chroma coding (as per ITU-R Recommendation BT.709).
