Connect to the Network and Audio/Video Sources
The Makito X4 Single Channel includes two video encoding cores and four audio encoding cores. This encoder supports one video input of 12G-SDI, 3G-SDI, and HD-SDI, with UHD, ST 2110, and (optionally) KLV metadata.
Important
Do not disable both IP protocol versions (IPv4 and IPv6) on eth0. Even if eth1 is configured, if you fully disable eth0, networking will not work and you will not be able to connect to the system.
Warning
Laser Radiation - SFP Port: Invisible laser radiation may be emitted from disconnected fibers or connectors. Do not stare into beams or view directly with optical instruments. Refer to the Laser Safety With SFP+ Optical Modules notice.
Connect to the Network Interface
Connect the Makito X4’s network port to the IP network using an Ethernet UTP cable (type Cat 5 or higher).
(Optional) Connect an MSA compliant 10Gbps SFP+ Network Interface Card (Optical or Electrical) in the SFP+ port. This enables the encoder to ingest and encode SMPTE ST 2110 compliant content containing active video, audio and ancillary metadata.
Important
SMPTE ST 2110 input is a licensed feature, and the encoder Personality must be set to ST 2110. For more information, see Configuring ST 2110 Inputs (in the User's Guide).
SFP transceivers must be MSA (Multi-Source Agreement) compliant.You can now telnet to the unit or connect via the Web interface.
Connect to A/V Sources
Connect your video source cable to the encoder's SDI video input using the BNC connector. The following SDI video configurations are available:
- 12G/6G-SDI single channel ingest of UHD resolutions (up to 3840 x 2160p60)
- 3G-SDI single channel ingest of full-HD resolutions (up to 1080p60)
