Publishing a Podcast

In order to perform this task, you will need the following prerequisites:

  • iTunes Publishing Account
  • Existing Media Object with Media Link
  • Editor-Level Credentials

To create an audio podcast feed:

  1. In the VCMS hover over the Navigation sidebar to expand the Main menu.
  2. From the Main menu, click Feeds > All Feeds.
  3. On the Feeds screen, click the Create Feed button at the top right to create a new feed.



  4. When prompted, provide a Title and the Feed Type.
  5. Click Create.
  6. Click the Advanced tab.
  7. Click the Default Feed Format and select iTunes.



  8. Click the Lineup tab.
  9. Click the Match Delivery Method menu and select the Download option.



  10. When finished, click Save Changes at the bottom of the screen.
  11. In the Preview section at the right side of the screen, click Add Pinned Item.
  12. Once the Add Pinned Item dialog appears, select the media title(s) you want to include (pin). Or see below for automated selection of objects based on categories or metadata labels.



    The selected item will be added to the Preview listings.

  13. When finished, click the Pin to Top/Pin to Bottom button to close the dialog.
  14. Hover over the Navigation sidebar to expand the Main menu, click the asset name.
  15. In the Media Details screen, click the Publish & Share button at the top right.
  16. In the Publish & Share dialog, check the ITunes Audio Podcast box and click Submit.
  17. Open iTunes Podcast Connect, create a new Podcast, and submit feed URL.


Alternatively, you can make the feed sensitive to a category (or other metadata) and have any uploaded objects that meet the criteria pinned automatically:

  1. Click the Lineup tab.
  2. Click the Append Dynamic Company Feed Items checkbox to add a dynamic section below pinned items.



  3. Use either the Match Categories or the Match Workflow Labels fields to specify which objects to be added as content when they are uploaded.
  4. Open your iTunes Podcast Connect software, create a new podcast, and submit the feed URL.
