Configuring the New Haivision_Publish Watch Folders

Haivision Publishing is an improved transcoding service for video on demand (VOD) files that can achieve up to a 4x improvement in VOD transcoding times and higher reliability overall. In order to utilize Haivision Publishing, a few changes need to be made to your FTP Upload configuration.
Important
Currently, there is no manual publishing method for the new Haivision Publishing workflow as this publishing process is accessed only through the Ingest/Watch Folder upload process.
Configuring the Watch Folder Settings
How you configure your watch folders depends on the tool you use for uploading. Choose the appropriate tab below according to the workflow you use to upload.
Configuring FTP/FileZilla for the Haivision Publishing Workflow
If you use FTP/FileZilla for your publishing workflow:
- Open your Haivision Cloud VCMS account.
- Hover over the Navigation sidebar to expand the Main menu.
- Click Ingest > Watch Folders.
- Select the Ingest_Media_Files_Only Watch Folder and click the Watch Settings tab.
- Copy the information in the Description field to your clipboard (CTRL+C).
- Switch to your FileZilla application.
- Click File > Site Manager... to open Site Manager.
- Verify the site folder and paste the clipboard comments in the Comments field (CTRL+V).
- Copy the URL (without the ftp:// prefix) that you just put in the Comments field and paste it into the Host field.
- Next, copy the User ID from the Comments field and paste it into the User field.
- Copy the Password from the Comments field and paste it into the Password field.
- Set the Encryption field to "Only use plain FTP (Insecure)".
- Click Connect.
Once connected, click on your account folder and open the Watch folder. You will see a new Haivision_Publish folder. You will use this folder instead of your previous auto_publish folder.
NOTE: There is no action to start the publishing process. Once you upload the file via FTP, the file is automatically moved into the publishing engine and will appear in your account when finished.
Checking the Publishing Status of jobs using the Haivision Publishing Process
To check the status of of your Haivision Publishing:
- In your VCMS account, hover over the Navigation sidebar to expand the Main menu.
- Click Haivision > Publish Status.
- When the Publish Status screen opens, locate your job and its current status in the listing.
Configuring KB Encoder for the Haivision Publishing Workflow
If you use the KB Encoder for your publishing workflow:
- In your browser, open an instance of both Haivision Cloud and the KB Encoder. You can do this in a separate tab or browser window. This will allow you to switch between the two to copy the information from your Cloud account to the KB Encoder.
- On the KB Encoder screen, click the More menu and select Administration.
- In the side panel under Configuration, click Assets.
- In the Destinations section, click Add button. When the Add File Upload Destination appears, you will need to add the information from your Cloud account to it.
- Switch to your Haivision Cloud VCMS account and hover over the Navigation sidebar to expand the Main menu.
- Select the Ingest > Watch Folders.
- Select the Ingest_Media_Files_Only Watch Folder and click the Watch Settings tab.
- In the Description field you will find the information you need to update your KB Encoder:
- From the Description field, copy the URL (without the ftp:// prefix) and then paste it in the KB Encoder's Address field.
- From the Description field, copy the User ID and then paste it in the KB Encoder's Username field.
- From the Description field, copy the Password and then paste it in the KB Encoder's Password field.
- In the KB Path field, you need to create the information as follows:
/username/watch/Haivision_Publish
where username is your username.
For example, if your username is 352453 the path would be:/352453/watch/Haivision_Publish
- In the Name field at the top of the form, enter Haivision_Publish.
- Click Apply.
