Applying Filters

Last updated on Dec 24, 2021

Filters can be applied to the widgets in your dashboards in order to show the most relevant information, and they can be applied in different ways.

Global Filters

You can set global filters from the filter bar, which apply to all widgets in the dashboard. The filter bar allows you to change the date range of the filters, the granularity, the content type, as well as the ability to filter by any of the multiple dimensions available.

Active Filters

The filters that are currently being applied to all widgets on the dashboard are represented by name tags. You can quickly clear one or more tags to focus the view. Note that unless you save the current state of the dashboard, any filters you have cleared will reappear the next time you open it.

Time Filter

Allows you to specify the period of time over which the data is charted. That duration can last from one hour to six months, and is shown on the horizontal axis of the widget(s).

Time Filter Presets

Allows you to quickly apply a common time filter (e.g., last 10 minutes).

Time Filter Date Comparison

Allows you to quickly compare the current metric data against different dates or time periods. NOTE: Can only be used with Over Time widgets (line, bar, area, stacked bar, or stacked area charts).

Granularity Selector

Allows you to specify the granularity (every second, every hour, etc.) with which widget data is displayed. NOTE: The values may change depending on the date range selected.

Multidimensional Filtering

Allows you to build and apply a multidimensional filter to your data. Choose from over 75 real-time metrics and custom dimensions to achieve full visibility into platform performance and audience behavior.

Content Type Filter

Allows you to specify the data type that will be used by the dashboard widget(s). NOTE: If you select more than one data type, the dashboard rotates through each to display the corresponding metrics.

Changing a Widget's Filters

You can also apply filters to specific widgets by using the filter tools in the Widget editor.

To change a widget's filter settings:

  1. Locate the widget you wish to modify and click the Settings  button.

  2. Change the Time Filter and Granularity settings as needed.

  3. Click the Filter Settings  button.
  4. Choose a filter category (Dimensions, Metrics, Tops or Saved filters).
  5. Specify the filter parameters.
  6. Click Add To Filter.
  7. Repeat as necessary.
  8. When finished, click Apply.

The widget appears on the dashboard with the individual filter settings applied (the filter settings button will have a gray background).
